Not everyone wants to create an account just to find out whether they are on the right track. That is why Despendo has two open calculators: free, no sign-up, and the math runs in your browser. They are built to give you a clear number in a couple of minutes.
Food autonomy calculator
With the food autonomy calculator you can see how many days of food you have and what you are missing to reach your goal. It is a good place to start: it tells you where you stand before you go shopping.
Emergency water calculator
The emergency water calculator gives you liters, gallons and jugs for 3, 7, 15 and 30 days. It helps you decide how many containers to buy and how much space to set aside at home.
When to use the app instead of the calculator
The calculators are a quick estimate with general data. The app does the math with what you really have: each product with its quantity, category, calories and expiry date, and it updates when you buy or use things. If you want to understand how that number is worked out, read how days of food are calculated.
A good order: try the calculator, set a realistic goal (for example one week of food) and, when you want to keep track without doing the math by hand, move to the app.
