What is inside

  • Inventory: product, quantity, unit, expiration, category, shelf, minimum, calories per unit and notes. With drop-down lists for units and categories, and two columns that calculate themselves: days to expire and total calories.
  • Color warnings: red if it has expired, orange if it expires in 14 days or less, yellow if it expires in 30 days or less.
  • Summary: you enter how many people you are and see your days of food by calories, products about to expire and calories per category.
  • 72-hour kit: twelve items with the suggested amount for your people and a progress tracker.

How to use it

  1. Download the file and open it in Excel or Google Sheets.
  2. Type your products on the Inventory sheet, starting at row 3. Row 2 is an example: delete it.
  3. On Summary, change the number of people.
  4. On 72h kit, tick what you already have.

A limit worth knowing

The summary divides stored calories by what your family eats. It is a simple count: if you store a lot of sugar or oil, the days come out inflated. Despendo caps each food group so that does not happen; we explain it in how days of food are calculated.

When the sheet falls short

A sheet does not warn you when something expires or scan barcodes. When you want to move from a sheet to an app, save the Inventory sheet as CSV and upload it to Despendo in a couple of minutes. Before deciding, see the comparison of pantry and 72-hour kit apps.
